Take some time out for yourself April 21, 2008
Posted by Janet Sawyer in : Posts , add a commentIn today’s busy world it really is important to make sure you take some time out for yourself. I think I’ve just survived a weekend of work. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a lovely weekend, but it really has been hard work.
I did what most people do, I tried to cram too much into too little time. Did I achieve anything? well, yes in some ways I did, and No in other ways I didn’t. You see I had so much listed to do that I couldn’t possibly have done all of it. Once again, a lot of the list is still on the to-do side of the paper and not crossed off.
As I realised late last night, it was my choice, I could stop, go and have an early night and wake up refreshed this morning, or I could drag myself online, try to do a bit more on my sites and not get anything finished off. Guess what, I went to bed. Had a good nights sleep and feel a lot better and more focused for the start of a new week. It’s been a good start, as I have already found yet another excellent free report to add to one of my sites. More on that later in the week.
Focus is only a little word, but it means a lot. Look it up in a thesaurus and you get the noun Concentration, this then breaks down further to motivation, single-mindedness and application, which are all the requirements of task management. I’m still struggling with juggling, and I know what the answer is, I’ve got to get more Focused. I know that somewhere lurking on the hard drive of this computer is an excellent report on how to compile your to-do list, how to categorise the important items and how to implement strategies to get where you want to be quicker. By the end of today, I’ll find it and post a link to where you can get hold of it also. This post goes back to an earlier statement about stop wasting time. I can’t believe I’m still doing the same old. I’ve got to change my habits.
About six months ago I bought a book by Paul McKenna, “Change your life in 7 days” it included a free mind programming cd, I’m ashamed to say, I got to about page 61 of the book, and have not even taken the cd out of it’s wrapping. Isn’t that dreadful of me. Time this week to take some time out for myself and read that book. Self imporvement, here I come.
Why am I not using this blog to it’s full potential April 18, 2008
Posted by Janet Sawyer in : Posts , add a commentOK, from now on, it’s one post a day…… keeps the critics away.
I’ve been scolded for not using this blog to it’s full potential. So hopefully from now on I’m going to post on a daily basis. (Although this won’t be happening over the next few weeks as hubby is really poorly, he’s booked in for his operation on Tuesday next week, please bare with me if a miss one or two days!)
I’ve been shocked recently that people actually want to know more about me, and I mean personal details. So, here you go. Today you’ll get a five second post. …………..
This is me and the way I am, I say things as I see them. I am Mum to “5″ and Grandma to “1″ this may increase in the future, but hopefully not too soon.
That’s it, “5 seconds” up.
No, only kidding, I can’t really believe that I’ve been using computers for nearly 25 years. I remember the old bulletin boards, and dos versions, even before 3.1! I’ve even got old 5 1/4 disks in the cupboard that I won’t allow to be discarded because they contain useful programs. The fact that I can’t install them on any new computer doesn’t matter, they were useful once, why shouldn’t they be again. Think about this, why are companies selling software to put your old Vinyl records onto dvd’s because they know you LOVE the old times and the way things were. (Love Story! Memories - ok, whos singing - you are out of tune !)
If you are trying to make your living online, hoping to give up the day job, then you’ve got to learn the skills to use. You can’t just go at it blindly, you need to know lots of things and you need to learn them.
Stick around, I’ll guarantee it will be worth it. Your 5 seconds are now definately up for TODAY.. …….
